Before the start of formal business, the Council will receive a prayer from the Civic Chaplain, Reverend Jacqueline Littlewood.

Let us pray

We give thanks for the Mayor of Gravesham Councillor Gurdip Ram Bungar and all who have served as Councillors during the last twelve months and we remember who have died during this Civic year including the late Honorary Freeman Councillor Colin Caller who gave thirty three years of service to the people of Gravesham and died whilst still holding office as a Councillor for Westcourt Ward.

Almighty God send down upon all who hold office in this Council of the Borough of Gravesham the spirit of justice and integrity, of wisdom to listen to each other’s views, charity and support as they make decisions.  May they discuss issues with truth and mutual respect as they fulfil their duty to promote the welfare of all who lives, works, studies or visits our great Borough.

During this COVID – 19 pandemic we give thanks for the work and selfless dedication of medical staff and all key workers. We pray that they may be given the strength to carry on working and that safe protocols may be observed to keep them protected.

We pray for local businesses and livelihoods that are affected by the lockdown.

We give thanks and ask your blessing on Gravesham Council, the North West Kent Volunteer Community Centre and other Authorities, Agencies, Community Groups and individual volunteers  as they respond to the needs of those who are self-isolating and vulnerable during this crisis throughout the world.

Lord, make us more aware of our interdependence, on each other, that our neighbourhoods may be places of trust and friendship, where all are known and cared for and may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be upon us all now and for evermore.  Amen.
