To elect a Leader of the Executive

To elect a Leader for a term of office which ends on the day of the next post-election Annual meeting (under whole Council elections) subject to Article 7 (Leader and Cabinet Executive) within the Articles of the Constitution.

 

Minutes:

The Mayor asked Members for nominations for Leader of the Executive. 

 

It was moved by Cllr Harold Craske and seconded by Cllr David Hurley that –

 

            Cllr David Turner be elected as Leader of the Executive for a term of office which ends on the day of the next post-election Annual meeting             (under whole             Council elections) subject to Article 7 (Leader and Cabinet             Executive) within the Articles of the Constitution.

 

The motion was put to the meeting and declared to be carried.

Updated Waste Management Policy for Gravesham Borough Council pdf icon PDF 80 KB

To present an updated Waste Management Policy for the borough to Council for formal adoption

It was moved by Cllr David Turner and seconded by Cllr Sandra Garside -

           

·         That the Council approves and adopts the Waste Management Policy for Gravesham Borough Council as attached at appendix two

 

Following a debate, the motion was declared to be carried by 22 votes, with 17 abstentions from Labour Members.

 

Cllr Turner added that that once the policy has been implemented the cross party working group will be reconvened and the issues raised at the meeting could be discussed along with any additional issues that follow the implementation period.

 

It was therefore resolved:

 

·         That the Council approves and adopts the Waste Management Policy for     

Gravesham Borough Council as attached at appendix two
