Those present stood in silence in memory of Peter Hart, former Mayor and Councillor, had recently passed away.

Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Julia Burgoyne and Bronwen McGarrity.

To consider a Notice of Motion pursuant to paragraph 15 of Annex 2.1 of the Council Procedure Rules proposed by Cllr Lee Croxton and seconded by Cllr Shane Mochrie-Cox:

a)            That in recognition of his eminent services to the Borough of Gravesham,

John Burden

be admitted as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough pursuant to Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972.

b)            That in recognition of his eminent services to the Borough of Gravesham,

Colin Caller

be admitted as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough pursuant to Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972.

c)            That in recognition of his eminent services to the Borough of Gravesham,

Robin Theobald

be admitted as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough pursuant to Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972.

d)            That in recognition of his eminent services to the Borough of Gravesham,

Michael Wenban

be admitted as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough pursuant to Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972.

e)            That in pursuance of Section 249 (9) of the Local Government Act 1972, expenditure be authorised to enable an address to be presented to each of the Honorary Freemen of the Borough referred to in a), b), c) and d) above.

It was proposed by Councillor Lee Croxton and seconded by Councillor Shane Mochrie-Cox that:-

1.    in recognition of his eminent service to the Borough of Gravesham John Burden be admitted as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough pursuant to Section 249 (5) of the Local Government Act 1972.

It was resolved unanimously that John Burden be so admitted.

2.    in recognition of his eminent service to the Borough of Gravesham Colin Callerbe admitted as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough pursuant to Section 249 950 of the Local Government Act 1972.

It was resolved unanimously that Colin Caller be so admitted.

It was proposed by Councillor David Turner and seconded by Councillor John Knight that:-

3.    in recognition of his eminent service to the Borough of Gravesham Robin Theobald be admitted as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough pursuant to Section 249 (5) of the Local Government Act 1972.

It was resolved unanimously that Robin Theobald be so admitted.

4.    in recognition of his eminent service to the Borough of Gravesham Michael Wenban be admitted as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough pursuant to Section 249 (5) of the Local Government Act 1972.

It was resolved unanimously that Michael Wenban be so admitted.

5.    Pursuant to Section 249 (9) of the Local Government Act 1972 expenditure be authorised to enable an address to be presented to each of the new Honorary Freemen of the Borough.

To authorise that the Common Seal of the Council be affixed to any

instrument to give effect to a decision of the Council taken at this meeting. 

Resolved that the fixing of the Common Seal to any contract, minute, notice or other document requiring the same be authorised.
