Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Conrad Broadley, Emma Elliott, Leslie Hoskins, Diane Marsh, Alan Ridgers, Brian Sangha and Peter Scollard.

Admittance of Honorary Freemen

To consider a Notice of Motion pursuant to paragraph 15 of Annex 2.1 of the Council Procedure Rules proposed by Cllr John Burden and seconded by Cllr Jordan Meade:-

 

(a)  That in recognition of her eminent services to the Borough of Gravesham, Bronwen McGarrity be admitted as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough pursuant to Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972.

 

(b)  That in recognition of his eminent services to the Borough of Gravesham, Narinder Singh Thandi be admitted as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough pursuant to Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972.

 

That in pursuance of Section 249 (9) of the Local Government Act 1972, expenditure be authorised to enable an address to be presented to each of the Honorary Freemen of the Borough referred to in (a) and (b) above.

 

Minutes:

It was proposed by Councillor John Burden and seconded by Councillor Jordan Meade that:-

1.    in recognition of her eminent service to the Borough of Gravesham, BronwenMcGarrity be admitted as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough pursuant to Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972.

It was resolved unanimously that Bronwen McGarrity be so admitted.

2.    in recognition of his eminent service to the Borough of Gravesham, Narinderjit Singh Thandi be admitted as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough pursuant to Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972.

It was resolved unanimously that Narinder Singh Thandibe so admitted.

  1. Pursuant to Section 249(9) of the Local Government Act 1972 expenditure be authorised to enable an address to be presented to each of the new Honorary Freemen of the Borough.

Admittance of Honorary Aldermen

To consider a Notice of Motion pursuant to paragraph 15 of Annex 2.1 of the Council Procedure Rules proposed by Cllr John Burden and seconded by Cllr Jordan Meade:-

 

That in accordance with Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the title of Honorary Alderman be conferred upon the following former Councillors in recognition of their eminent services to the Borough Council:-

 

·         Lesley Boycott

·         Greta Goatley

·         David Hurley

·         William Lambert

·         Sara Langdale

 

That in pursuance of Section 249 (4A) of the Local Government Act 1972, expenditure be authorised to enable an address to be presented to each of the Honorary Aldermen referred to above.

 

Minutes:

It was proposed by Councillor John Burden and seconded by Councillor Jordan Meade that:-

1.    in recognition of her eminent service to the Borough Council, Lesley Boycott, be admitted as an Honorary Alderman pursuant to Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972.

It was resolved unanimously that Lesley Boycott be so admitted.

2.    in recognition of her eminent service to the Borough Council, Greta Goatley, be admitted as an Honorary Alderman pursuant to Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972.

It was resolved unanimously that Greta Goatley be so admitted.

3.    in recognition of his eminent service to the Borough Council, David Hurley, be admitted as an Honorary Alderman pursuant to Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972.

It was resolved unanimously that David Hurley be so admitted.

4.    in recognition of his eminent service to the Borough Council, William Lambert, be admitted as an Honorary Alderman pursuant to Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972.

It was resolved unanimously that William Lambert be so admitted.

5.    in recognition of her eminent service to the Borough Council, Sara Langdale, be admitted as an Honorary Alderman pursuant to Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972.

It was resolved unanimously that Sara Langdale be so admitted.

  1. Pursuant to Section 249(4A) of the Local Government Act 1972 expenditure be authorised to enable an address to be presented to each of the new Honorary Aldermen.

Seal of the Council

To authorise that the Common Seal of the Council be affixed to any instrument to give effect to the decisions of the Council taken at this meeting. 

 

Minutes:

Resolved that the fixing of the Common Seal to any instrument to give effect to the decisions of the Council taken at this meeting be authorised.
