His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh

Minutes:

The Worshipful the Mayor, Cllr John Caller explained that it was with great sadness that we learned of the death of his Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh on Friday.

 

His Royal Highness served the country with dedication and devotion over many decades and his passing leaves us all with a sense of loss and sorrow, particularly coming as it did at the end of a year when so many have lost loved ones of their own.

The Mayor advised Members that he had written to the Queen’s Private Secretary, extending the condolences of the Borough to Her Majesty.  The Mayor also laid a wreath on behalf of Members and the people of the Borough at the statue of Her Majesty the Queen in St Andrew’s Gardens.

 

The Mayor invited all Members and officers to join him in observing a minute’s silence in memory of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh.

 

Following the minutes silence; Cllr John Burden, Leader of the Council, Cllr Jordan Meade, Leader of the Conservative Group and Cllr Harold Craske,  Leader of the Independent Group; offered their condolences and paid their respects on behalf of their respective Members to His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh.

It was moved by Cllr John Burden and seconded by Cllr Lee Croxton that:-

 

the reserved Minute of Cabinet held on 22 February 2021 be ratified and confirmed.

 

With reference to Minute 80; the Minute was noted.

 

The Council resolved that all GBC staff be commended for their good work as part of the Council’s response to the COVID Pandemic and that the Council sign up to the White Ribbon Accreditation programme.

The Council received a report which informed Members of the outcomes from Gravesham Borough Council’s annual risk identification and analysis exercise and presented a copy of the Corporate Risk Register for 2021-2022.

 

Resolved that the Corporate Risk Register that has been developed for

2021-2022 be approved

The Mayor congratulated Daniel Killian on his recent appointment to Director of Housing.

 

The Mayor wished the Sikh Community a happy Vaisakhi.

 

The Mayor thanked the fantastic community in Gravesham for following Covid-19 guidance and praised everyone who has received a vaccination.
