The Council has power to scrutinise crime and disorder issues. Provisions for crime and disorder scrutiny in the Police and Justice Act 2006 came into force in England at the end of April 2009.

One of the powers of this Committee is to scrutinise how the partnership members are discharging their crime and disorder functions.

The Committee is chaired by the majority political party group.
